CEU Course Description

Physical therapists and physical therapist assistants in the state of Texas must follow guidance from the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners and the American Physical Therapy Association to stay compliant with regulations that govern the profession. These include licensing, continuing education, and ethical standards. This course will outline and detail the process of becoming a physical therapist and physical therapist assistant in the state of Texas, how to provide excellent care, and how to represent the profession with core values. It will also discuss practical scenarios of ethical challenges and guide therapists on how to utilize resources like the Code of Ethics to act within ethical standards.  

CEU Course Objectives

1. Identify the impact of modern communication methods such as texting and telehealth used by physical therapists and physical therapist assistants
2. Recall licensure requirements such as supervision, jurisprudence and standards of practice for physical therapists and assistants in Texas
3. Recognize ethical conflicts within the field of physical therapy and suggest solutions to them in practice
