COURSE DESCRIPTION
Musculoskeletal diseases are a major public health problem in western society with a high impact on both health care and total societal costs. This CEU course explores diagnosis, causes, and treatments for the common pain disorder of fibromyalgia. The role of Occupational Therapy is explored with specific considerations regarding treatment and establishing goals.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
- Recognize the only physical finding currently used for diagnosis of FM.
- Differentiate between how women with FM describe their fatigue compared to men.
- List the roles resistance exercise play in the treatment of FM.
- Recognize the role Occupational Therapists have in establishing proper goals for those with FM
