CEU Course Description
This CE course provides physical therapists with recommendations within the ethical framework of usage of social media and texting in the healthcare setting. Five key themes are investigated: privacy and confidentiality breaches; student use and the need for student guidance; the patient therapist relationship and boundary blurring; integrity and reputation of the profession; and a lack of institutional guidelines. Tools to aid ethically-reasoned practice will also be discussed which will be of value when developing future guidelines about social media use.
