CEU Course Description
Breast cancer related lymphedema (BCRL) is a prevalent complication secondary to cancer treatment which significantly impacts the physical and psychological health of breast cancer survivors. This CEU course will review the etiology of BCRL. We will then look deeper into the mechanism of low level laser therapy (LLLT) and the effects that are sustained on target tissues, as well as the specific cellular reactions that give way to the tissue changes seen. Finally, we will delve into the research to evaluate the effectiveness of LLLT in the management of BCRL.
CEU Course Objectives
1. Identify the conservative therapy that LLLT yielded a similar percentage of volume reduction.
2. Name which benefit the current review provides strong evidence favoring LLLT over sham at short-term follow-up.
3. Summarize what the cascade of secondary reactions at the cellular level, prompted by LLLT, leads to.
